Lam Won is a graduate student in Sociology at UC Davis. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese history and China studies from the University of Hong Kong. He studied teahouses in Buddhist temples in urban cities ranging from Guangzhou, Nanjing, and Changsha, focusing on civil society, spirituality, and material culture in contemporary China. He sees tea as a cultural domain that cultivates different strands of urban religious lifestyles.
